Artists Statement
THE TURNING CO.
Glory and Justice are teen makers who embraced woodworking and started down a path of artistry that no one expected. Working on found wood, reclaimed lumber, commercial cutoffs and figured slabs are challenges that inspire their craftsmanship. It is humbling as they work on each new creation to know the significance of holding in their young hands a story of a once mighty tree that displays rings of its own past. Although the official term for chiseling timber on a spinning lathe is called woodturning, The Turning Co. name also reflects how each piece of wood is truly transformed, or turned, into a new purpose that honors its natural beauty and rooted history.
